Pet and House Sitting
There are so many advantages for pet and house sitting. For your pets, it means they enjoy the comforts of their own home and have access to all their favourite walks, toys, sleep and play areas. Just with someone different looking after them. For you, it is peace of mind that your pets and home are safe and secure while you are away. For me, I get to make new furry friends and explore new places. Its win win!
My Ethics and Promise to you
While you are away, I will ensure that:
Your pets individual needs are met so that they are content, healthy and safe. I will use force free, positive reward based methods to interact with your pets, build a trusting relationship with them using kindness and empathy and have their mental and physical wellbeing at the heart of any decisions that I make
Your home is kept clean, tidy and secure and any equipment, appliances and furniture that I use will be treated with care and respect.
This is Cana enjoying a back rub. He was one of the dogs that I looked after at HULA and a very special friend. This picture was taken during a visit to see him and his new guardians a couple of months after he was adopted.
Hi! My name is Phil. For over 10 years I have been caring for animals whether it has been in rescue centres, fostering at home, pet sitting or dog training. I am very empathetic in nature and love being in the company of other animals
My journey began in 2013 when I started volunteering at HULA animal rescue (now part of the National Animal Welfare Trust). I then became an Animal Care Assistant there and gained lots of experience looking after the cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs looking for new homes. I also helped look after the resident farm animals, which included cows, goats, ponies, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys.
After several years, I decided to focus more on looking after dogs and become a Canine Carer at Dogs Trust. There I got more interested in dog training and learning more about behaviour and communication. Unfortunately, after just over a year, I started to struggle with my health. As rewarding as working in animal rescue is, it is also a very physically and emotionally challenging role. I made the difficult decision to leave Dogs Trust to spend some time recovering.
The current chapter in my journey started in 2022 when my sister invited me to go with her to The Canine Hub in Oakley. Being there fired up my interest in dog training again and I started assisting one of the trainers every weekend. I became a qualified games based trainer in the summer of 2023 and since the beginning of 2024 have started teaching part time doing puppy groups, recall workshops and some 1-2-1s.
Since being at The Canine Hub, I also started doing the occasional dog and house sit for a couple of people. As interest has grown, I decided to combine all the skills I have gained to start Phillip's Pet Care.
